Kollu Meets Kishan to Seek Centre’s Support for Exploration of Minerals in AP
Vijayawada: Minister for mines and excise Kollu Ravindra met Union minister for mines G. Kishan Reddy and sought the Centre’s support for exploration of minerals given AP having 972-km stretch coastline.
Ravindra met G. Kishan Reddy, Union minister of state for science and technology Dr Jitendra Singh and Union minister of state for mines Satish Chandra Dubey while taking part in the National Mineral Exploration Trust’s 6th meeting in New Delhi on Monday.
The AP minister informed the ministers concerned that AP was having huge deposits of natural resources and diverse mineral deposits, and opined that if they were used properly it would help the state become a role model in development.
He said AP was having huge deposits of titanium, nickel, phosphorite, phosphate, graphite, lithium and platinum.
The minister said they were making all efforts for proper exploration of mineral resources and sought Centre’s support in setting up a comprehensive monitoring system on mining activities in the state.
The minister said the AP government was keen to take part in the auction of offshore mining and sought the support of the Centre to set up a Seabed Mining Corporation in the state.
