Kumbhotsavam Celebrated at Srisailam
This year, 5,000 coconuts, 5,000 pumpkins, and 60,000 lemons were offered as part of the Sattvikabali.

Kurnool: The annual Kumbhotsavam of Goddess Sri Bhramaramba Devi was celebrated with religious fervour at Srisailam on Tuesday.
As part of the rituals, the first phase of Sattvikabali was performed in the morning, during which coconuts, lemons, and pumpkins were offered to the goddess in a special puja. This sacred festival is traditionally observed on a Tuesday or Friday following the full moon day (Pournami) in the month of Chaitra.
The temple was decorated with lemons as part of the festive adornment. After the initial rituals, temple priests performed Navavarana Archana, Trishati, Khadgamala, and Ashtottara Shatanama Kumkumarchana in honour of Goddess Bhramaramba Devi.
In accordance with tradition, the temple washerman created a Rajaka Rangavalli (ritualistic rangoli) for the occasion, and special pujas were conducted at the Sri Chakram. In the evening, an important segment of the Kumbhotsavam was observed as rice was poured as Rashi at the Simha Mandapam. After the Pradosha Kala Pooja, Annabhishekam was performed for Sri Mallikarjuna Swamy.
Following these rituals, the temple gates were closed, and an employee dressed as a woman offered Kumbhaharathi to Goddess Bhramaramba Devi—one of the festival’s distinctive traditions.
This year, 5,000 coconuts, 5,000 pumpkins, and 60,000 lemons were offered as part of the Sattvikabali. The Kumbhaharathi ritual also included the offering of large quantities of turmeric and kumkum, followed by a Santhi Prakriya. Local traders and devotees traditionally donate the lemons, coconuts, and pumpkins for this sacred occasion. Temple executive officer M. Srinivasa Rao and other senior officials were present during the celebrations.
