Former Kurnool MLA Gafoor’s Son Dies Of Heart Attack In The US

When Kiran did not answer their phone calls, his friends went to his apartment and found him dead. They immediately alerted the police and his family members.

KURNOOL: M.A. Kiran, 41, elder son of former Kurnool MLA and senior CPM leader M.A. Abdul Gafoor and CPM state leader P. Nirmala, died of a heart attack in San Jose, California, USA, on October 1.

In fact, Kiran’s family in Kurnool became concerned after they failed to contact him for nearly 10 days. They approached representatives of Amana and the Telugu Association of North America (TANA) for help in tracing him.

In the interim, Kiran’s friends in the USA had also become worried after he stopped answering their calls. When they visited his residence, they found him dead.

Medical reports indicated that Kiran passed away in his sleep on October 1 after suffering a sudden heart attack.

Gafoor said his son had been a brilliant student. He had graduated from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) and completed his master’s degree at the New York University.

Representatives of Amana and TANA are assisting the family with diplomatic formalities and arrangements to bring Kiran’s body to India. The process may take about a week, as holidays over the next three days are expected to delay the arrangements.

State IT and education minister N. Lokesh has expressed profound grief over the death of Kiran.

In a condolence message, Lokesh said Kiran’s sudden demise was an irreparable loss to the Gaffoor family. Kiran was working as a senior data scientist in the United States.

The minister conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace.

Several CPM leaders, relatives and well-wishers are visiting Gafoor’s residence in Kurnool to offer their condolences.
