Laddha likely to be appointed as AP intel chief
Hyderabad: Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) IG Mahesh Chandra Ladda is likely to be appointed as Andhra Pradesh Intelligence chief.
The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) approved for repatriation of Ladda, a 1998 batch officer to his parent cadre Andhra Pradesh with immediate effect. An order to this effect was issued on June 26, according to Sanjeev Kumar, Under Secretary to Government of India.
The MHA gave approval following a request from Andhra Pradesh urging to send back Ladda to the State. With this, the AP government is expected to appoint Ladda as the Intelligence Chief. Ladda earlier won accolades for effectively dealing with left wing extremism in united Andhra Pradesh.
In 2020, the State government placed the services of Mahesh Chandra Laddha at the disposal of the MHA for appointment to the post of IG CRPF on deputation basis for a period of five years from the date of joining of the post or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Ladda escaped a naxal ambush when he was working as a Prakash district Superintendent of Police in 2005. IPS officer Kumar Vishwajeet, 1994 batch officer, is presently working as the Director-General, Intelligence. The Election Commission of India (ECI) appointed Vishwajeet as Intelligence DG ahead of elections in Andhra Pradesh in April 2024.
