Laddu Ghee: YSRC Seeks HC Probe by Judge or Panel

Vijayawada: The opposition YSR Congress has moved the Andhra Pradesh High Court seeking a probe into the allegations of Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu that adulterated ghee was recently used for laddu prasadam at the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams.

YSR Congress MP and former TTD chairman YV Subba Reddy’s counsel Ponnavolu Sudhakar Reddy submitted a request before a division bench headed by Chief Justice Dhiraj Singh Thakur and Justice Ch Ravi to take up the matter for a fair hearing. Counsel sought an inquiry into the allegations by either a high court sitting judge or by a court-appointed panel to ascertain facts. The court agreed to hear the PIL on Sept 25 and asked the petitioner to file the plea by that time.

Later, counsel Reddy alleged that the statement of Chandrababu Naidu has hurt the sentiments of crores of devotees of Lord Venkateswara across the world. Naidu, by doing so, was having an ill motive to make a political gain, counsel said.

He said that it was painful that someone in the capacity of chief minister levelled charges without verifying facts. To a demand for a vigilance inquiry, he said, “Once the CM took a stand on this issue, it would be impossible for state agencies to probe the matter in an impartial manner.”
