Laddu Row: Protests Intensify at Tirupati

Anantapur:Protests continued in Tirupati and in several parts of the state over Lord Venkateswara Swamy’s Laddu prasadam on Saturday. BJP leader Bhanu Prakash lodged a complaint with Tirupati SP against the TTD former chairman and former EO and other persons for their alleged role in allowing the supply of impure ghee to prepare laddus.

“In the past five years, the YSRC tarnished sanctity of Tirumala shrine by turning it as a centre to provide political employment for the party leaders,” he alleged.

He added that no decisions by the TTD were transparent. Secrecy was maintained by then EO Dharma Reddy and chairmen Subba Reddy and Karunakar Reddy. The BJP leader demanded stringent action against those responsible for damaging the sanctity of Kaliyuga Vaikuntam.

Similarly, TD MLAs from Tirupati and Chittoor districts came down heavily on then YSRC government for allowing large scale irregularities in the holy shrine.

Tirupati MLA A Srinivasulu said officials came to know about the adulteration only after obtaining a report. Stringent action will be taken against those responsible for the crime.

Puthalapattu MLA Murali Mohan said the sanctity and dharma were of prime importance at Tirumala shrine as every offering to the lord is done according to agama sastra. He said YSRC leaders should be ready to accept the challenges if they feel fair. He stressed the need to perform Pavitrotsam following loss of sanctity of the holy temple.

Chandragiri MLA Pulivarthi Nani came down heavily on former EO Dharma Reddy who was used to lobby in Delhi and disturbed the sanctity of Lord Venkateswara Swamy temple.

Film star Mohan Babu sought stringent action against those involved in the supply of adulterated ghee for prasadam of Lord Balaji. AP Brahmin Sagham general secretary Guru Murthy urged the government to expel those involved in tarnishing the sanctity of Tirumala.
