Lambasingi viewpoint temporarily closed due to safety concerns
Visakhapatnam:The Lambasingi viewpoint in the Alluri Seetharama Raju district has been temporarily closed by the local panchayat and the Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA) since the last weekend of November 30. This decision was prompted by hazardous road conditions, which have worsened significantly due to heavy rainfall.
The local panchayat informed the ITDA that the deteriorated roads pose serious risks to vehicle safety. Additionally, the threat of landslides, heightened by the impact of Cyclone Fangal, has further amplified safety concerns in the area. In light of these risks, the ITDA and the Lambasingi local panchayat determined that the closure is essential to ensure public safety.
Appala Naidu, manager of the Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (APTDC), told Deccan Chronicle that the closure is a precautionary measure to prevent accidents and ensure the safety of potential visitors. The heavy rains and subsequent landslides have made the route to the viewpoint dangerous, and urgent action is needed.
In collaboration with ITDA, local panchayat authorities actively monitor the situation and plan to reopen the viewpoint once more favourable weather conditions prevail and road safety is restored. In the meantime, visitors are strongly advised to avoid entering the area and remain informed of updates from local authorities.
