Leopard Not Trapped in Snare; Search Efforts Continue
Kakinada:District forest officer S. Bharani confirmed that the leopard which was spotted near Lala Cheruvu Housing Colony, Rajamahendravaram, three days ago has not been trapped in a snare. Officials on Monday identified the leopard's footprints and two search teams are actively tracking its movements.
Bharani stated that the leopard is currently in the Diwancheruvu Reserve Forest and has not ventured outside the forest area. Footprints of the leopard were again identified on Monday. Bharani denounced recent false information circulating on social media about the leopard being sighted near C-Block in Namavaram village.
She emphasised that such reports are untrue and warned that strict action will be taken against those spreading misinformation. She assured that there has been no harm to humans or animals outside the reserve forest due to the leopard. To capture the leopard, snares and trap cameras have been set up in various locations within the forest.
Rajamahendravaram MLA Adireddy Srinivas reported that nine teams, comprising 50 personnel, are working to trap the leopard. He urged the public to avoid spreading false information to prevent unnecessary panic and to rely solely on official updates from Forest Department authorities.
