Literary tours to promote Telugu language among children: Pawan Kalyan

Vijayawada: Deputy Chief Minister K Pawan Kalyan has said the state government would organise Telugu literary tours to promote the language among children and younger generations.

The aim is also to educate the people about the greatness of Telugu poets and authors, he said on Sunday.

The deputy CM emphasised the need to construct memorials for prominent literary figures like Sri Sri, Gurajada Appa Rao, Venkata Chalam, Gurram Jashuva, Viswanatha Satyanarayana, Devulapalli Krishnasastri and Bal Gangadhar Tilak in their respective native places.

These centres would preserve their memories, aid in the development of these areas, and serve as knowledge hubs to inspire future generations with their immense contributions to Telugu literature, he said.

On Sunday, representatives from the Vijayawada Book Festival Society met Pawan Kalyan. They sought his assistance to have a proper venue for the book festival, which has been held in Vijayawada for the past 35 years.

Pawan Kalyan said the state government would explore the possibility of developing circuit tourism by integrating famous libraries such as the CP Brown Library (Kadapa), the Gowthami Library (Rajamahendravaram), and the Vetapalem Library with the residences of literary figures.

This initiative would not only boost tourism in these regions but also allow students and language enthusiasts to learn more about Telugu language. He advised the cultural, tourism and other departments to draft plans for organising literary tours similar to adventure and spiritual tours.
