Lokesh assures government junior college in each mandal
Vijayawada: Education minister Nara Lokesh said the NDA coalition government in Andhra Pradesh is determined to improve the standards of education in government intermediate colleges across the state.
As part of it, he wanted officials to prepare plans for establishing an intermediate college in each mandal of Andhra Pradesh in the days to come.Presiding over a review meeting with officials on intermediate education at his residence in Undavalli on Tuesday, the minister said the focus in government intermediate colleges should be on the students' learning outcomes.“The pass percentage in government junior colleges must be on par with those in private colleges,” he underlined.Lokesh asked officials to publish in daily newspapers photos of students who have studied in government junior colleges and excelled in competitive examinations like IIT and medicine.He advised officials to consider evaluating answer papers of intermediate students using AI. He ordered officials to quickly grant permissions to those who set up junior colleges in remote areas.Officials explained to the minister that this year, admissions in intermediate colleges have increased by 15,000 due to the provision of free textbooks.The minister suggested that intermediate students be trained in bridge courses using the best faculty. He wanted NCERT text books to be introduced for first year intermediate students from the next academic year.
