Lokesh cites plan to make AP ganja-free in 100 days

VIJAYAWADA: Minister Nara Lokesh has promised to put a “permanent full stop” to the drug menace and transform Andhra Pradesh into a ganja-free state within 100 days.

Lokesh said, “I have met the home minister, Telugu Desam chief, and police officers and explained to them about the promise I made during the Yuva Galam padayatra to completely eradicate the ganja menace from AP.”

The minister for Human Resources Development; IT Electronics & Communication; RTG, offered special prayers at a local mosque as part of Bakrid festival celebrations in the Mangalagiri town on Monday.

Addressing the media, Lokesh asserted that an action plan would be devised to fulfill all promises and programmes mooted by TD to serve the people of his Mangalagiri constituency.

Alleging that three TD workers were killed by YSRC gangs after the TD-led alliance government came to power, Lokesh said the party’s rank and file maintained restraint following a call from chief minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu to maintain peace in the state.

“YSRC hooligans attacked a TD worker from a minority community with a cricket bat and killed him in Chiluvuru under Mangalagir constituency,” Lokesh noted.

Asked about the Rushikonda palace constructed by the previous YSRC government, the minister said the chief minister has instructed the officials to submit a report on the constructions on the Rushikonda hill.

He added, “The government will conduct a thorough probe into the irregularities involving the illegal constructions on the Rushikonda hilltop and will make the details public.”
