Lokesh Seeks Support of Indra Nooyi to Build Brand AP
Vijayawada: IT and Electronics Minister Nara Lokesh has urged IT companies in the US to become partners in rebuilding Andhra Pradesh in the technology and manufacturing sectors.
Andhra Pradesh is actively involved in economic and social development by implementing “investor-friendly policies” under the leadership of chief minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu, Lokesh said at a meeting he held with investors and industrialists.
The minister had a meeting with former CEO of Pepsico, Indra Nooyi, on the campus of the IT Survey Synergy Summit in Las Vegas in the US, where he’s currently on a visit. Lokesh sought the support of Indra Nooyi in the efforts being made by the state government to achieve sustainable economic growth.
Lokesh urged the former CEO to showcase the state government's commitment to the industrial community in implementing the policies on renewable energy projects, green initiatives and environment-friendly industrial policies. The state is sincerely working to encourage women leadership, he said, and urged Nooyi to share her views with the government on ways to empower women in various fields.
He said the state government is aiming to empower the youth by improving their skills in education and technology, and urged Nooyi to formulate mentoring programmes for the youth to achieve these targets. “AP is expecting the support of IT companies in encouraging investments in the state and building Brand Andhra Pradesh,” he said.
Indra Nooyi responded positively and promised her cooperation in these respects.
