Anantapur: Anantapur POCSO court on Friday sentenced life term imprisonment to T. Ramanjineyulu alias Mugodu over assaulting a minor girl at Putlur mandal headquarters in Anantapur district and directed the government to give compensation of Rs10.50 lakh to the victim's family.
Sources said the six-year-old minor girl was playing in front of her house while her parents went to work and was under the care of her grandmother at Putlur. Ramanjineyulu lured the girl with the promise of chocolate and raped her after taking her into his house on July 7, 2020.
The victim’s grandmother lodged a complaint at the Putlur police station, and the police arrested Ramanjineyulu. The POCSO court judge, Rajyalakshmi, pronounced the verdict on Friday after charges were proved against the accused and sentenced him to life imprisonment with a Rs 3,000 fine. The court also directed the government to pay Rs10.50 lakh as compensation to the victim's family. SP P. Jagadish appreciated the police team for securing justice for the victim's family.
