Kurnool: A horrific incident unfolded in Nandikotkur, Kurnool district, where a boy set a girl on fire after she rejected his advances. Raghavendra, a 21-year-old from Kalugotla, was infatuated with a girl from Samarlakota in Veldurthi mandal. Due to his persistent harassment under the guise of love, the girl’s parents had sent her to stay with her grandmother in Nandikotkur for safety.
On Sunday, in the dead of night, Raghavendra entered the girl’s room, doused her with petrol, and set her ablaze. She died at the scene. In the process, Raghavendra also sustained burns. As he attempted to flee, local villagers apprehended him and alerted the authorities. Subsequently, due to his injuries, he was rushed to Kurnool for medical treatment.
Meanwhile, home minister V. Anitha expressed her deep sorrow over the tragedy and discussed the situation with the Nandyal SP over the phone.
