Mercury soars across Andhra Pradesh
Visakhapatnam: Temperatures continue to climb in Andhra Pradesh, with several areas experiencing significant heat. On Monday, Jangamaheswarapuram reported the highest temperature of 38.5°C, exceeding normal levels by 5.1°C. Gannavaram followed with a temperature of 37.5°C, 4.8°C above average. Visakhapatnam saw a maximum temperature of 36.6°C, a 1.2°C rise from the previous 24 hours and 4.0°C above normal, with no recorded rainfall.
In Kalingapatnam, the temperature reached 32.8°C, an increase of 0.8°C from the previous day, with a 1.3°C departure from normal, accompanied by 62.0 mm of rainfall. Amaravati's temperature was 35.6°C, down by 1.3°C, while Tuni recorded 35.5°C, a decrease of 0.3°C from the previous 24 hours and a 2.9°C departure from normal. Both Kakinada and Machilipatnam also reported no rainfall, with maximum temperatures of 34.1°C and 36.5°C, respectively.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts isolated rainfall with lightning over North Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, South Coastal Andhra Pradesh, and Rayalaseema for the next two days. Additionally, strong surface winds at speeds of 30-40 km/h are expected at isolated locations in these regions on days 4 and 5.
