Mild Earthquake Strikes Anakapalli, Causes No Damage

Visakhapatnam: Mild tremors due to an earthquake shook several areas of Anakapalli district in the early hours of Friday, startling many residents and prompting some of them to flee their homes.
The earthquake, which occurred around 12:30 a.m., had a magnitude of 3.7 on the Richter scale.
People of Anakapalli town, Yelamanchili, and Rambilli mandal said they felt tremors that lasted only a few seconds. But they had been strong enough to displace household items and wake up those sleeping.
Data indicate that the quake originated at a depth of approximately 20 kilometres beneath the Earth's surface, with its epicentre located about 50 kilometres southwest of Resapuvanipalem.
The sudden shaking caused widespread alarm. Many residents took to social media platforms to share updates and alert others.
No damages or injuries have been reported.
Last November, similar mild tremors, also 3.7 in magnitude on Richter scale, had been recorded in neighbouring Visakhapatnam district, again in the early morning hours.
Recurrence of tremors in the region has evoked concerns within the public in the region.
