Minister Gummadi Sandhya Rani Announces Major Infrastructure Projects for Tribal Villages
Visakhapatnam: Minister of tribal, women and child welfare Gummadi Sandhya Rani has announced that the roads would be constructed in every tribal village of the Agency area, in order to get rid of the need for “doli” transport.
Sandhya Rani, who is also the in-charge minister for both Parvathipuram Manyam and Aluuri Sitarama Raju districts, has made the announcement on Monday during a tour of Paderu mandal where she also launched a free gas distribution programme in Bangaru metta village.
The minister highlighted several key projects, including laying of the Sileru road with Rs 46 crore and other roads in 1,300 villages with Rs 1,800 crore. Additionally, Rs 15 lakh has been allocated for laying the Paderu Vadadi road.
During the meeting, the minister emphasised the government’s commitment to provide free gas cylinders under the Deepam 2.0 scheme as a Diwali gift to eligible beneficiaries. She noted that the initiative aims at enhancing the dignity of women by offering interest-free loans to members of the DWCRA communities, enabling them to start businesses and achieve economic growth.
The minister has also acknowledged the Central government’s support for Andhra Pradesh’s development. She praised Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan’s efforts in organising Gram Sabhas across the state and upgrading high schools to junior colleges in every mandal. She announced that the government has taken steps to increase mess charges and sanction 35 more ambulances for tribal villages.
She also said that plans were underway to provide solar power to tribal villages and offer affordable prices for tribal products, including coffee.
District collector A.S. Dinesh Kumar has described the Deepam scheme as a boon for the poor, noting that 2.39 lakh of 3 lakh ration card holders have gas connections. He announced that free gas registration under Deepam Scheme 2.0 began on October 29 with plans to double the number of Aadhaar centres to streamline the registration process. He also highlighted the need for roads in 1,300 villages, which was brought to the Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s attention during a meeting in Visakhapatnam.
During the event, 12 beneficiaries received free gas cylinders under Deepam Scheme 2.0. The minister also initiated the work to fill potholes on the Paderu Vaddadi main road in Sundrupattu village at a cost of Rs 15 lakh.
