Minister Lokesh Concludes Russia Visit; Explores Tech, Industrial Partnerships

VIJAYAWADA: Minister for education, IT and electronics N. Lokesh concluded his visit to Russia after a series of high-level engagements during the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) 2026.
During the visit, Lokesh showcased Andhra Pradesh’s vision of emerging as a globally competitive manufacturing and technology hub.
Speaking on the sidelines of the forum, he said the shift in global economic growth towards emerging economies presents significant opportunities for regions with strong infrastructure, skilled talent and stable policies.
He said discussions at the forum highlighted the increasing role of technology, logistics, artificial intelligence and workforce development in driving future economic growth.
Urban innovation and intelligent mobility featured prominently during the visit. Lokesh held discussions with officials of the Moscow government, including transport minister and vice mayor Maksim Liksutov, on advanced traffic management systems, AI-enabled transit monitoring, integrated command-and-control centres and digital mobility solutions.
Andhra Pradesh and Moscow agreed to explore technical cooperation aimed at improving urban mobility, reducing traffic congestion and enhancing road safety through data-driven governance.
The minister also held meetings with major Russian companies and institutions in sectors such as energy, logistics, transportation, rail manufacturing, advanced materials, nuclear technology, critical minerals, semiconductors and digital infrastructure.
The interactions highlighted opportunities for collaboration between Andhra Pradesh’s industrial development plans and Russia’s technological and manufacturing capabilities. Both sides expressed interest in strengthening business-to-business engagement, institutional partnerships and investment flows.

Our engagements during SPIEF 2026 have opened new avenues for collaboration in industry, technology, smart cities, mobility, AI and advanced manufacturing. Andhra Pradesh is committed to building enduring partnerships with Russian businesses and institutions. Together, we can create mutually beneficial opportunities that drive innovation, investment, jobs and sustainable economic growth for both our regions,” Lokesh said.
