Minister promises full support for investment in AP tourism

VIJAYAWADA: Tourism Minister Kandula Durgesh has said the alliance government is keen on extending full support to investors in the tourism sector.

The new Tourism Policy 2024-2029 has been formulated to position Andhra Pradesh as a top state in the tourism sector, he said while participating in the Tourism Investors Engagement programme of the APTDC.

The event was held in collaboration with the AP chamber of commerce, the AP hotels association and the confederation of Indian industry (CII) here on Tuesday.

Durgesh said the government has introduced a new investor-friendly tourism policy, laying emphasis on creation of world-class infrastructure to enable AP become a premier tourism destination for domestic and foreign tourists alike.

The new tourism policy, he said, has been formulated after a rigorous study of the best policies in other states and previous state policies.

Over 200 investors from various states attended the programme and expressed their interest in making investments in AP’s tourism sector.

Explaining the salient features of the new tourism policy, Durgesh said the state aims to develop around 25 thematic circuits, including 10 temple, five beach, four river, three ecotourism, and two Buddhist and Cruise circuits.

Additionally, the plan includes seven anchor tourist hubs, with Visakhapatnam and Tirupati occupying the pride of place. He urged investors to invest in AP without any inhibitions or fears, as the government would extend them all support.

Secretary to tourism Vijay Chand and APTDC managing director Amrapali Kata, in PowerPoint presentations, explained the investment opportunities available in the tourism sector. APTDC chairman Nukasani Balaji, CII chairman Rama Krishna, AP chambers president Bhaskar Rao and AP hotels association president RV Swamy were present.
