Minister Satya Kumar Unveils 30-Point Plan to Improve Healthcare

Vijayawada:Health minister Satya Kumar Yadav has said they have come up with a 30-point action plan to improve healthcare services at government hospitals in Andhra Pradesh.

Taking part in a programme to mark the sixth anniversary of DVC Hospital and Research Centre in Guntur on Saturday, the minister said the action plan includes registration at out-patient department within 30 minutes after arrival at the hospital, collection of blood sample in rooms located near the out-patient department, releasing blood test and disease diagnosis reports by 2.00 p.m. on the same day to enable specialists to test the patients between 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and prescribe treatment, patients to be given information in writing in case blood test or other tests cannot be done for want of medical equipment, ensuring availability of wheelchair assistants, stretcher bearers and other supporting staff, restoration of air-conditioning in all operation theatres, availability of medical equipment like CT scan, MRI and X-ray machines, extension of super specialty services in all general hospitals, starting transplantation of heart, kidney and liver in general hospitals and filling up vacant posts of super specialists and specialist doctors.

Satya Kumar said nearly 2.50 lakh patients are availing healthcare services at government hospitals in the state per day. 11,000 doctors are working at the hospitals, which have the capacity of 35,000 beds.

The minister appreciated doctors for working hard despite facing a series of pressures while providing healthcare to patients in the government sector.
