Minister stresses on alternatives to fossil fuels
Kakinada:Tourism Minister Kandula Durgesh has stressed the need for finding alternatives to fossil fuels --like coal, diesel, petrol as also electricity -- and said the use of solar power as alternative energy source should be encouraged.
He along with the district collector Prashanthi, Rajamahendravaram urban development authority chairman BVR Chowdary and electricity superintendent engineer Tilak Kumar flagged off the Fuel Week Celebrations, being held from December 14 to 20, under the auspices of the AP Eastern Power Distribution Company at Rajamahendravaram on Saturday.
The minister called upon the people to save energy and not waste it. Otherwise, the future generations would face adverse consequences to get the energy for their daily use. "We should make use of LED bulbs instead of traditional bulbs and save 60 per cent energy and money."
District collector Prashanthi said saving fuel energy is also one of the components of Vision 2047 shaped by chief minister Naidu. “If one unit is saved, the burden of two units would be decreased,” he said and added that the district administration was promoting solar power in agriculture, domestic and other sectors.
RUDA chairman Venkata Ramana Chowdary said solar power should be promoted and encouraged for use by domestic consumers and it should be made mandatory.
