MP Gurumurthy appeals for railway development in Tirupati region
Tirupati:Tirupati MP Dr Maddila Gurumurthy on Monday voiced concerns over various railway-related issues in the Tirupati parliamentary constituency during Parliament’s Zero Hour. He brought several critical matters to the attention of the Central government, emphasising the urgency of addressing them.
Highlighting the increasing railway traffic, Gurumurthy stressed the need for constructing a third railway line between Renigunta and Gudur. He explained that this line would reduce the burden on existing tracks and facilitate faster travel. He also urged the government to expedite the completion of the new railway line between Pudi and Yerpedu which would enhance connectivity and play a vital role in boosting local economic resources.
The MP pointed out that several train stoppages were discontinued during the Covid-19 pandemic and requested their restoration, particularly at Vendodu, Naidupeta and Sullurpeta stations. He argued that reinstating these stops would improve transportation facilities for passengers in the region.
Additionally, he called for MEMU train services between Tirupati-Nellore and Tirupati-Kadapa to benefit daily commuters.
Raising concerns about the narrow underpass at Gudur’s Ambedkar Nagar, Gurumurthy highlighted the severe traffic problems it causes. He urged its expansion to ease the situation. He also proposed introducing a Vande Bharat sleeper train service between Tirupati and Visakhapatnam to provide faster travel options for passengers.
The MP appealed for the launch of a new train service connecting Tirupati with Varanasi and Ayodhya which would serve pilgrims and travellers efficiently. By presenting these issues, Gurumurthy urged the railway minister to prioritise these projects and expedite their implementation to address the region’s pressing needs.
