MP Vallabhaneni Wants APRR Project Timeline Extended by Two Years

Vijayawada: Machilipatnam MP Vallabhaneni Balashowry requested the union government to extend the timeline for AP Rural Roads (APRR) project by another two years, until December 2026.

Raising the issue under Rule 377 in the Lok Sabha on Monday, he pointed out that the AP government had launched the ambitious APRR project in 2018–19 to construct over 7,000 kilometres of roads. Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank is supporting the project to enhance the road network in rural areas.

However, the MP said the project progressed only at a snail’s pace over the last five years.

Balashowry informed the Lok Sabha that following a high-level meeting, the NDA alliance government in AP has realised that the project cannot be completed by the original deadline of December 31, 2024.

In this context, the MP urged the centre to extend the project deadline until December 31, 2026.

Balashowry sought that the percentage of AP government’s contribution to the project be reduced from 30 per cent to 10 per cent.
