Muslim Groups in Vizag Oppose Amendments to Waqf Act

Visakhapatnam: Muslim leaders from various have opposed the amendment to the Waqf Act-2024, which the Central government recently introduced in the Parliament. At an all-party forum meeting held at Vizag, Sheikh Abdul Munir, a leader from Muslim community of Visakha district, said that it is sad that the Centre brought the amendment to the Waqf Act which will only dilute the provisions of the legislation on Waqf. He explained that the term "Waqf " means donation in the name of Allah. The private properties donated to Waqf Board by individuals are used to aid poor Muslims, widows, orphans and for the education of poor students and mosques.
