Naidu Asks TD Counting Agents to Be on High Alert
Vijayawada: Telugu Desam president Nara Chandrababu Naidu has called upon the counting agents of his party to be on high alert at the counting centres on Tuesday.
He advised them to complain to the Returning Officer in case they suspected any lapse in counting of votes.
Addressing the counting agents from the TD-JS-BJP alliance through teleconference on Monday, he cited the possibility that the YSRC might resort to violence during the counting of votes as it feared defeat. “Do not lose your composure,” he told the party agents.
He recalled how the YSRC approached the Supreme Court on the change in postal ballot rules and saw its plea dismissed by the court.
Referring to the training provided to the counting agents, Naidu asked them to reach the counting centres well in time and keep a tab on whether the control unit was having the seal as per its number. He called upon them to keep Form 17 C with them and check the polled votes and the votes counted.
He said that in case of any difference in them, the election authorities would have to count the VVPAT slips.
On postal ballots, Naidu asked the counting agents to raise objections in case of any doubt in counting of votes and take an acknowledgment from the RO. He asked them to take the declaration form without fail.
In the event of any counting agent unable to attend the counting of votes due to ill-health, another agent could be appointed, he said.
