Naidu Invited to Attend Maha Sivaratri Brahmotsvams at Srisailam

Vijayawada: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu was invited to attend the Maha Shivaratri Brahmotsvams at Bhramaramba Mallikarjuna temple in Srisailam.

Temple executive officer M. Srinivasa Rao, pundits and Srisailam MLA Budda Rajasekhar Reddy met the CM here on Monday and invited him to attend the event, scheduled to be held from February 19 to March 1 on the temple premises.

Auto driver arrested in Srikakulam gold heist

The Gara Police of Srikakulam district have solved a daylight robbery case and arrested a 30-year-old auto driver who allegedly stole gold jewellery from a neighbour’s house in Salihundam village last month.

The details of the case were briefed during a press conference held on Monday. The accused, identified as Jogi Raju, was arrested at his residence in Salihundam village on Sunday afternoon. Police recovered all stolen items, including several gold chains, necklaces, a bracelet, and two rings, with a combined weight of approximately 17 tolas.

According to police reports, the theft occurred on January 22 when the victim, Urajana Ramanamma, and her husband were away at their fruit shop in Singupuram Junction. The accused, who lived next door and was familiar with the family’s daily routine, entered the house through an unlocked back door and made off with the valuables that were stored in a drawer.

Circle inspector K. Paidapu Naidu, who led the investigation, said the accused was driven by mounting debts from his auto purchase, daily finances, and personal loans. “The suspect carefully planned the theft, attempting to enter the house multiple times before succeeding.”

The stolen items included a 6-tola gold chain, two gold necklaces weighing 4 and 2.5 tolas respectively, another gold chain, a bracelet, a Navaratna ring, and a gold ring with the letter ‘A’ engraved on it. The accused had hidden the jewellery in a home theatre system at his residence.

The accused has been booked under sections 331(3) and 305 of the BNS Act at Gara Police Station, and further investigation is ongoing.

Police crack down on vehicle theft, drug trafficking

The Guntur police across multiple stations in the district have apprehended several suspects involved in vehicle theft and drug trafficking cases, recovering stolen motorcycles worth Rs 11 lakh and seizing 24 kg of ganja valued at Rs 2.24 lakh.

The Pattabhipuram police have arrested Velivolu Venkateswarlu, 34, a habitual offender with 38 prior cases, and his associate Moram Reddy Sita Reddy, 38. Venkateswarlu, resident of Ratnagiri Colony, Guntur, confessed to 12 motorcycle thefts. Sita Reddy, an agriculturist from Lankelakurapadu, admitted receiving and disposing of seven stolen motorcycles for a commission.

In a separate operation, Chebrole Police arrested Md. Abdul Rasheed, 25, and Challa Gopi, 27, both known repeat offenders. Both admitted to stealing 10 motorcycles.

Nallapadu Police conducted a drug raid, arresting Dammalapati Manikanta, 20, and Chintala Padma, 30 at Sivareddypalem, Guntur Rural mandal. The police seized 22 kg of ganja from their possession. Manikanta sold ganja in 50-gram sachets for `500 each. Padma and her husband Chintala Satyanarayana, 40, were identified as Manikanta’s suppliers. They are absconding.
