Naidu Terms Opposition Stand on Women’s Bill a ‘Betrayal’

He further stated that the move reflected disregard for the aspirations of women and said such actions would be remembered.

Vijayawada:Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Friday criticised the Congress-led Opposition over its stand on the Women’s Reservation Bill, alleging that it had blocked a key measure aimed at women’s empowerment.

In a post on social media platform X, the AP Chief Minister termed the move a denial of equal representation for women and described it as a setback to inclusive governance. He reposted a message by Union home minister Amit Shah while highlighting the importance of the proposed legislation.

“The Congress-led Opposition, by halting the Women’s Reservation Bill, has denied India a historic opportunity to advance women’s empowerment. This is not just political obstruction; it is a betrayal of millions of women who deserve equal voice and rightful representation,” Naidu said.

He further stated that the move reflected disregard for the aspirations of women and said such actions would be remembered.

Naidu said his party would continue to support measures aimed at increasing women’s participation in legislative bodies and public life.
