Naidu to Launch India’s First Indigenous Quantum Computers Testing Facility in Amaravati

Amaravati Quantum Valley set to become a global hub as Andhra Pradesh commissions sovereign quantum infrastructure on World Quantum Day

AMARAVATI: Marking World Quantum Day on April 14, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu will launch India’s first indigenous Quantum Computers testing facility at SRM University in Amaravati. Simultaneously, a virtual launch of the Quantum facility centre at Medha Towers in Gannavaram near Vijayawada will be held.

With this initiative, Andhra Pradesh becomes the first state in India to commission a domestic Quantum Computers testing facility, positioning Amaravati Quantum Valley as an emerging international hub for quantum technology.

During the launch, the Chief Minister will witness the live initiation of the Amaravati 1Q system’s cooling process, while the Amaravati 1S system will be demonstrated as an open-access setup visible to all attendees. The Amaravati Quantum Reference Facility (AQRF) establishes sovereign quantum infrastructure in India, serving as the anchor node for a national quantum hardware network. Technologies developed here, including cryogenics, precision electronics, and quantum-grade fabrication, have strategic applications in defense, healthcare, and semiconductor manufacturing.

Under Andhra Pradesh’s flagship Quantum Technology Hub programme, part of India’s National Quantum Mission, Amaravati Quantum Valley will host an IBM 133-qubit quantum computer and engage over 80 industry and academic partners, aiming to rank among the top five global quantum hubs. The launch of AQRF complements the Valley’s existing quantum cloud, skilling, and innovation infrastructure.

Since the Amaravati Quantum Valley workshop in June 2025, Chandrababu Naidu has envisioned transforming Amaravati into a global capital of quantum technology. Highlighting the integration of quantum computing into governance, medicine, vaccine production, aerospace, and education, the Chief Minister has emphasized the need for developing indigenous hardware and upskilling students. Over 2.5 lakh students have already enrolled in quantum skill training programmes, including at IIT Chennai.

According to PS Pradyumna, Secretary to the Chief Minister, the launch represents a “dream come true” for Andhra Pradesh, marking a major milestone in India’s quantum technology journey and reinforcing Amaravati’s global ambitions in the sector.
