Naidu to turn AP into 'leader' in IT industry
Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh would set up a cyber security department and identify a suitable location for the launch of a drone technology park. Plans are also afoot to shape AP as a start-up hub and leader in IT and Electronics.
Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has asked officials to work in this direction and prepare comprehensive plans. “Let us make the state a leader in the field of IT and electronics in the country,” he said.
He reviewed the functioning of the IT, Electronics-Communications and RTGS departments at the Secretariat on Wednesday. “We would seek the help of Visakhapatnam IIM, Tirupati IIT and other educational institutions and identify the startups that are following the best practices. We would bring them to the state,” he said.
Naidu said officials should identify a suitable area for setting up a drone technology and testing park. Various IT companies are showing interest in expanding their operations to tier-two cities. Efforts should be made to bring more IT companies to AP, he said.
He also asked officials to design an app to provide various services to citizens. Tata company has created a special app and is providing good services. “We must be providing various types of services to the citizens online. Officials should work in this direction immediately.”
The Chief Minister said SRM is planning to set up an Artificial Intelligence University and Reliance aims to start an Artificial Data Centre University.
Naidu stressed the need for a separate department for cyber security. He instructed officials to make all the CCTV cameras in the state fully functional. Install these cameras widely, so that wherever an incident happened, the culprits could be identified and action expedited, he said.
IT Electronics minister Nara Lokesh said steps were being taken to promote the IT sector in the state. “We would streamline people's problems under an artificial intelligence system. A plan will be prepared for better development of the IT-electronics sector in AP,” he said.
Additional secretary Karthikeya Mishra, AP Fiber Net MD Dinesh Kumar and other officials participated in the meeting.
