Naidu Vows Strict Measures Against Crime, Drug Abuse and Land Grabbing
Vijayawada: Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu addressing the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly on Thursday reiterated his government’s commitment to women's safety, law enforcement, and eradicating drug abuse. He stated that comprehensive measures have been introduced to ensure the safety of women, declaring, "I have studied the entire country and made laws to safeguard women. Criminals will think twice before committing crimes."
Naidu criticized the previous government for neglecting critical issues, including the circulation of obscene posts targeting women. He mentioned offensive posts allegedly made by Varra Ravinder Reddy, questioning why Jagan Mohan Reddy continues to support him despite these accusations. "Sharmila has demanded a case against Avinash Reddy for similar actions," he added.
Naidu also said, "Wherever ganja was found in the country in the last five years, its roots were traced back to Andhra Pradesh. Cannabis and drugs have even entered educational institutions." He assured that his administration is actively combating this menace and warned, "It will take time, but we are committed to curbing cannabis and drug activities."
Regarding land issues, Naidu condemned the controversial Land Titling Act introduced by the previous government, which he repealed immediately upon taking office. "The Act granted revenue employees powers equal to civil judges. From now on, land grabbers will face strict legal action, including imprisonment and forfeiture of encroached property," he said, promising swift punishment for offenders within six months.
The Chief Minister also pledged to establish cyber police stations in every district to tackle crimes committed under the guise of politics and ensure law and order, stating, "Wrongdoers will not be spared. Investments will only flow when law and order are under control. We are reforming the police system to achieve this."
