Naidu Wants Harvested Paddy Shifted to Rice Mills Following Rain Forecast
Vijayawada: Following the forecast of rainfall in Andhra Pradesh, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has directed all district collectors to take proactive measures for protecting the harvested paddy crop from damage.
The CM instructed officials to promptly shift the harvested paddy to rice mills, where it could be stored safely.
Chandrababu Naidu asked the agricultural department to advise farmers not to harvest paddy ahead of the rainfall. Otherwise, rains would damage the freshly harvested crop, affecting its quality and yield.
The Chief Minister said wherever farmers do not use the traditional method of heaping paddy, officials must provide tarpaulins to cover the harvested paddy, so that it can be protected from rainwater.
Chandrababu Naidu wanted these measures to be implemented as part of the state government's efforts towards safeguarding the interests of farmers.
The CM said the government is closely monitoring the situation and coordinating with local authorities for taking up remedial action.
