Man drives home APSRTC bus to meet wife due to lack of money
Kurnool: In a bizarre turn of events, Daragaiah, a driver by profession, decided that public transport should be a bit more personal. Driven by an overwhelming desire to see his wife, he found an unattended RTC bus with the keys in it at the Atmakuru bus stand. Without hesitation, he hopped into the driver's seat and set off to his wife’s hometown, resulting in his apprehension by the police in Muchumarri, Nandyal district, for the unauthorised use of the government vehicle.
Daragaiah, from Venkatapuram village in Atmakuru mandal, was married to a woman from Muchumarri. His wife had been in her hometown for the past few days, prompting Daragaiah to undertake this stunt. However, his family and relatives claimed that he is not mentally stable.
The driver of the bus reported the vehicle missing to the officials at the Atmakuru depot. After reviewing CCTV footage, they found the bus heading towards Nandikotkur and alerted the police. Upon learning the bus was headed towards Muchumarri, RTC officials filed a complaint with the Muchumarri police station.
Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Krishnudu intercepted the bus, took Daragaiah into custody, and seized the bus. The ASI stated that the bus was returned to the Atmakuru depot officials, and no case was filed against Daragaiah due to his unstable mental condition.
