Narrow Escape for CM Naidu on Rail Track

VIJAYAWADA: Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu narrowly escaped a potential train mishap as he walked along the Madhuranagar railway track and paused for a while on a bridge beside railway track here on Thursday. Naidu was viewing the flow of floodwaters of the breached and overflowing Budameru rivulet by standing on the track. A train ran in on the same track.

Sensing danger, officials and Telugu Desam cadres alerted the train driver and got him to slow down the train. Naidu is among the most-protected CMs enjoying the central government's Z+ security in view of some Maoist threats in the past. His safety protocols are closely monitored by NSG and other high-level security forces.

Officials said, “Naidu, during his visit to the Budameru canal, stood on the overflying Madhura Nagar railway track to have a better view of the water flow. A train was coming with considerable speed. On prompting, it slowed down and passed by Naidu.” The CM and his security guards hurriedly took a few steps away from the track and avoided a mishap. “The distance between Naidu and the train was just three feet. It was a close shave,” an eye-witness said. Security personnel surrounded Naidu immediately and provided him the much-needed comfort.
