National Tourney Casts Carrom Craze in Nellore

Tirupati: The 29th All India Federation Cup Carrom tournament is currently underway at the Nellore Club, with top carrom players from across the nation competing in the four-day event. The tournament, which began on Sunday, has already seen intense competition in both the men’s and women’s doubles categories.

Organised by the Andhra Carrom Association with support from the Nellore Club and the All India Carrom Federation (AICF), the event features over 350 participants across 30 states and 9 institutions.

In women’s doubles, S. Apoorva and S. Stalina from LIC and Karnataka (KAR) triumphed over Anjali (LIC) and Shaleeni (KAR), winning in three sets with scores of 21-22, 22-05, and 25-03.

Another match saw M.S.K. Harika and Hari Priya from Andhra Pradesh defeat the Puducherry duo of R. Meelin and K. Neha with a scoreline of 14-10, 24-01.

The day also witnessed a strong performance from Sk. Husna Sameera and A. Bhavani of Andhra Pradesh, who overcame Suma and Somya Sree from Karnataka.

The men’s doubles category saw P.K. Shanvar and S. Ajmal from Kerala hold their nerve to beat Musraf and M. Praveen from AAI (Airports Authority of India) in a closely contested match (25-15, 16-18, and 22-19). In another match, the Odisha pair of G. Bhol and Jaya Prakash triumphed over G. Jayakumar and SK Elahi from Andhra Pradesh with a commanding 25-0, 25-10 victory.

The tournament was officially inaugurated by MLA of Nellore Rural Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy, who expressed his delight in hosting such a prestigious event in the city. MP and president of AICF Rquibul Hussain, MLC Parvathareddy Chandrashekhar Reddy and senior VP of AICF Dr. Neeraj Kumar Sampathy have attended the tournament.
