Nellore Police Counsel Offenders, Issue Warning
The public was urged to report suspicious activities through Dial 112

Nellore: In a major crackdown on anti-social elements, Nellore district police on Sunday conducted special counselling sessions for rowdy-sheeters, history-sheeters, known offenders and other persons with criminal backgrounds, warning them to reform or face stringent legal action, including detention under the Preventive Detention (PD) Act.
Acting on the directions of SPSR Nellore Superintendent of Police Dr Ajitha Vejendla, police officials across the district counselled offenders and urged them to abandon criminal activities and lead law-abiding lives.
Police made it clear that rowdyism, intimidation, assaults, public disturbances and other activities affecting law and order would not be tolerated. Officials warned that habitual offenders posing a threat to public peace would be kept under close watch and, if necessary, booked under the PD Act.
The police also reiterated their zero-tolerance policy towards crimes against women and children, including harassment, sexual assault and rape, stating that such cases would be investigated swiftly to ensure justice.
Officials said surveillance of rowdy-sheeters and other offenders had been strengthened through expanded CCTV coverage, enhanced beat policing and the use of modern technology to prevent crime. The public was urged to report suspicious activities through Dial 112, the police control room WhatsApp number or the nearest police station.
Police said maintaining peace, protecting life and property, and ensuring a crime-free district remain their top priorities.
Murder case filed against husband in Gayatri death
Dehradun police have registered a murder case under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita against IT professional Somayajulu Sree Charan in connection with the death of his wife, P. Radha Gayatri, at a homestay in Mussoorie on June 15.
The case was registered following a complaint lodged by Gayatri's father, P. Sudhakar, who alleged that his daughter had been subjected to harassment and raised suspicions over the circumstances surrounding her death.
In his complaint, Sudhakar accused Sree Charan of murder and alleged that he had mentally harassed Gayatri and monitored her movements using a GPS tracking device.
Sree Charan has denied the allegations, maintaining that he and Gayatri were on a trip to celebrate his birthday. He said he was awaiting the final post-mortem report and expressed confidence that it would clear his name.
After initially seeking a probe through the Visakhapatnam police, Sudhakar met the Director General of Police and Inspector General of Police of Uttarakhand and sought a comprehensive investigation. He alleged that Sree Charan's behaviour and statements following Gayatri's death had raised several doubts.
Gayatri's colleagues and friends claimed that she neither consumed alcohol nor suffered from low blood pressure, contrary to claims allegedly made by Sree Charan.
They further alleged that Sree Charan had told Gayatri they would be travelling to Rishikesh but instead booked accommodation in Mussoorie without informing her in advance.
They also claimed that he had engaged a lawyer in Mussoorie on June 15, the day Gayatri died.
"More details are likely to emerge once the police release the post-mortem findings," one of Gayatri's associates told this correspondent on Sunday.
Police are continuing their investigation into the case.

Police arrest key accused in Sarkar Express robbery
One held, five on the run in train robbery case
Railway police have arrested a key member of the notorious Bhawaria gang from Rajasthan in connection with the Sarkar Express robbery case and launched a manhunt for five other accused who remain absconding.
The arrested accused was identified as Sonu (35), son of Biramdal, a resident of Talwara Jheel village in Hanumangarh district of Rajasthan. The other accused, identified as Raj Veer alias Rajesh (40), Lakkan alias Mukesh (42), Sitaram (45), Vinod alias Ajit Singh Chauhan (33) and Midhun (26), are yet to be arrested.
According to police, six gang members travelling on the Sarkar Express from Chengalpattu to Kakinada Port allegedly pulled the alarm chain near Nagaraju Canal close to Appikatla railway station in the early hours of June 15, forcing the train to stop.
The accused allegedly snatched two gold chains weighing about 75 grams from women passengers travelling in S-3 and S-6 coaches. When railway escort personnel and passengers attempted to stop them, the gang allegedly attacked them with stones, catapults and knives.
Police said railway personnel opened fire in self-defence after repeated warnings, discharging 10 rounds before the accused fled.
Acting on technical evidence and intelligence inputs, police arrested Sonu at Bapatla railway station on Saturday. Investigators said the Bhawaria gang has been linked to several ACP-related robberies and signal-tampering cases across the Guntur Railway Police Sub-Division over the past two years.
Special teams have been sent to Rajasthan to trace the remaining accused. Railway DIG B. Satya Yesu Babu commended the officers involved in the operation.
