Tirupati: A 55-year-old man was murdered by his son over a property dispute in Molakala Poondla village of Saidapuram mandal, Nellore district, on Thursday. The deceased, identified as Palepu Venkateswarlu, was reportedly struck on the head with a stone by his son Shivaji following an argument over the distribution of family assets.
According to sources, the father and son had been at odds for some time regarding the division of property. Shivaji had been pressuring his father to divide the assets according to his wishes, but Venkateswarlu had refused.
On Thursday morning, the two engaged in a heated argument over the long-standing issue. In a fit of rage, Shivaji allegedly picked up a large stone and struck his father on the head. Venkateswarlu died on the spot, police said. The police arrested the accused and began their investigation.
