New era for higher education in AP, says Naidu

Naidu congratulated all the newly appointed vice chancellors and expressed his hopes for a successful tenure for them in advancing education and knowledge in AP

Vijayawada: Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has said the state’s higher education sector is entering a new era as “Vice Chancellors to nine universities have been appointed entirely on merit basis.”

The higher education sector, he said, “plays a crucial role in shaping the future citizens.” Based on state government recommendations, Governor S Abdul Nazeer announced the appointment of VCs for the nine universities on Tuesday.

Naidu alleged that the appointment process for VCs had weakened due to lobbying and political influence in recent years. “Our newly implemented merit-based system will ensure that only qualified individuals are appointed to such positions,” Naidu claimed.

The CM said this system “promotes social justice and at the same time yields positive results. He cited the ‘historic’ appointment of the first Scheduled Tribe woman, Prasanna Sri, as a Vice Chancellor, calling it a significant milestone for education and social justice in the state.

Naidu congratulated all the newly appointed vice chancellors and expressed his hopes for a successful tenure for them in advancing education and knowledge in AP.
