High Court seeks information on infrastructure facilities

Kurnool: The state government has expedited efforts to establish a permanent bench of the Andhra Pradesh High Court in Kurnool, following requests from local leaders after the city was designated a judicial hub.
Based on a direction from the high court, the district collector instructed officials on Wednesday to identify the facilities available, including buildings for the court complex, staff rooms, and space for advocates.
The call for establishing a high court or a permanent bench in the city arose after the YSRC government designated it as a judicial hub. However, there had been no significant move for either shifting the high court or the establishment of a permanent bench.
On January 29, the registrar (vigilance) of the high court issued a note to the district collector seeking details about available infrastructure for 15 high court judges, a venue for setting up a court complex, courtrooms, staff rooms, facilities for advocates, and residential accommodations for the judges and court staff.

The information was to be submitted by January 30, which was meant to be placed for a committee.
The district collector swiftly instructed the superintending engineer (R&B), municipal commissioner and city revenue divisional officer to provide the details. The RDO of Kurnool was tasked with identifying vacant land for the project.
