AP Government Appoints 25 Artistes to Nataka Academy

The Andhra Pradesh Nataka Academy is a state-level cultural organization dedicated to preserving, promoting, and advancing theatre, drama, and performing arts.

Amaravati: The Andhra Pradesh Government has appointed 25 prominent artistes from across the state as official members of the Andhra Pradesh Nataka Academy. The Academy is chaired by Gummadi Gopala Krishna a versatile artist of Telugu Drama and a noted theatre personality.

The Andhra Pradesh Nataka Academy is a state-level cultural organization dedicated to preserving, promoting, and advancing theatre, drama, and performing arts. It actively supports the welfare of artistes, stage performances, and both Padya Natakam and social plays across the region.

The newly appointed members, including noted artistes G.V. Ramana and Maganti Sastry, met Tourism, Culture and Cinematography Minister Kandula Durgesh at the Velagapudi Secretariat on Wednesday.

The Minister felicitated the members and said that the government would always encourage artistes who have rendered distinguished service to Telugu theatre. He hoped the Academy would help preserve and pass on the grandeur of theatre to future generations.

Durgesh also urged the members to take up programmes that bring greater recognition to theatre across the state and promote cultural awareness among the youth.
