Nimmala distributes cheques of amounts due by YSRC regime

Kakinada: Water resources minister Nimmala Ramanaidu on Sunday distributed cheques worth ₹60 lakh to 70 persons under the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF).

The amounts had been promised under the dispensation of the previous YSRC government but have been released after the N. Chandrababu Naidu-led NDA alliance government has formed the government in Andhra Pradesh.

In all, the state government has released ₹6,700 crore to various sections of people on the occasion of Sankranti. This is the sum of amount that had been promised to various categories of people by the YSRC dispensation but had not been released by the then government.

Nimmala Ramanaidu criticised the previous Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy government for abolishing the CMRF. “They did great injustice to poor in providing medical treatment,” he remarked.

The minister thanked Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu for reinstating the CMRF and providing funds for medical treatment, though the state is on a low budget.

He accused the YSRC of unleashing a false campaign against the Greenko Energy Project. “The reality is that the project has been given clearance by the TD government in 2018,” he pointed out.

West Godavari district collector Ch. Nagarani, superintendent of police Adnan Nayeem Asmi, RDO Desiraju and DSP Dr. Sri Veda were among those present at the cheque distribution ceremony.
