No New Diarrhoea Cases in Visakhapatnam: DMHO
Visakhapatnam: No new diarrhoea cases were reported on Saturday in the Jabbarithota area of Visakhapatnam's old town, where 40 people, including children, were affected.
District medical and health officer P Jagadeeswara Rao stated that of the 11 hospitalised patients, only four remain under treatment—two at KGH, one at ABC, and one at IDH. Others have been discharged.
Water sample tests revealed contamination in two samples from the affected area, while the overhead tank sample tested negative. Residents have been advised against using groundwater, and water tankers are being supplied to the locality.
Visakhapatnam police, GVMC address parking issues
Visakhapatnam city police and GVMC held a meeting to tackle parking shortages, chaired by city police commissioner Shankhabrata Bagchi. Owners of multiplexes, theatres, and malls were urged to ensure proper parking management to prevent traffic congestion.
GVMC will identify additional parking spaces near busy intersections and enforce regulations mandating specific parking allocations—60% for multiplexes, 50% for malls, and 30% for hotels and wedding halls.
Officials reaffirmed the parking fee structure and empowered zonal commissioners to monitor compliance, with initial violations incurring a fine of Rs 10,000.
Visakhapatnam Charts Ambitious Path to Double GDP by 2047
Under the Swarna Andhra 2047 initiative, Visakhapatnam District aims to double its GDP contribution by 2047, targeting a 15% growth rate in the primary and secondary sectors. Speaking at the 10th Property Expo, district collector MN Harendhira Prasad outlined plans to boost horticulture, vegetable, and fruit production, alongside food processing and fish exports.
The collector introduced a single-window system to streamline approvals and enhance the ease of doing business. Smart City initiatives were also highlighted, with investments in underground drainage, water supply improvements, and urban beautification.
CREDAI Visakhapatnam Chapter president V Dharmender commended efforts to resolve sand policy issues, expediting construction projects. VMRDA commissioner KS Viswanathan detailed tourism and infrastructure development plans, including adventure sports and road projects under a public-private partnership model.
Joint collector K Mayur Ashok emphasised leveraging advanced technology for land management and resurveying, aiming to resolve disputes efficiently and improve governance.
