None stopped Jagan's Tirumala visit: Naidu

VIJAYAWADA: Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has made it clear that no one had told YS Jagan Reddy “not to go to Tirumala.”

“I do not know what excuses Jagan has for cancelling his visit to Tirumala. Did anyone prevent him? Police gave no such notice to him. But, one should respect the customs and traditions of a shrine,” Naidu explained on Friday.

“What we said was that he should not hold rallies and public gatherings there,” the chief minister told the media at the secretariat in Velagapudi.

“What is the difficulty for Jagan Reddy in giving a declaration before the temple? He has confessed to be a Christian. When something goes wrong, you should express regret. Instead, Jagan Reddy is resorting to counter-attack. Shall I cover up the misdeeds you have done to TTD,” Naidu asked Jagan Reddy.

Naidu said, "The sentiments of the devotees have been hurt severely due to the recent developments in TTD. The devotees are worried. Section 30 of the Police Act is in force in Tirupati to prevent any incidents. If the customs are not followed, the sentiments of the devotees will be hurt. By respecting other religions one should practice one's own religion," he ruled.

He noted, "Earlier, Jagan Reddy went to Tirumala in violation of the rules. Many non-Hindus gave declarations and had darshan without any hassle. Why should you read the Bible between four walls? You can go to church and read the Bible.”

The chief minister said, “The same lies are being told over and over again. Jagan said ghee had not been adulterated. AR Dairy sent 8 tankers, out of which 4 tankers were used. The NDDB report confirmed it. Tell me why the rules were changed while calling tenders? Laddu prasadam was defiled with inferior quality materials.”

The CM noted that no inquiry has been conducted on the incidents of Ramatheertham and Antarvedi till now.

Jagan Reddy, he said, has abused power in appointing TTD officials. “The quality, purity and sanctity of ghee are very important and let us ensure that there is no defilement in the presence of Venkateswara Swamy.”
