Overflowing Canals Flood Parts of ASR District

Visakhapatnam:Andhra Pradesh Bharatiya Adivasi Samakhya (APBAS) on Saturday sought Governor Syed Abdul Nazeer's help in the aftermath of the storms earlier in the month which have flooded parts of Alluri Sitaram Raju district and washed away standing crop.

APBAS working member Gaduthuri Ramalakshmi submitted a petition to the governor, sating overflowing canals had inundated Chintapalli, Gudem Kotha Veedhi, Koyyur, Munchingput and Pedabayalu mandals.

Additionally, a landslide in Chatrapatti village of Galikonda panchayat, resulted in one death and serious injuries to many.

Ramalakshmi called for the strict implementation of Land Transfer Regulation Act 1 of 1970 (1/70 Act) to safeguard rights of the Tribals and requested support for subsidised seeds, organic fertilisers, and dairy cattle for those who suffered crop losses.

Ramalakshmi proposed constructing roads, providing electricity, improving education, agriculture and extending the road's network to all villages in ASR district.
