Vijayawada: A palmolein oil tanker overturned at Peddanemalapuri village in Rajupalem mandal of Sattenapalli in Palnadu district. The tanker en route to Hyderabad from Krishnapatnam toppled on the Addanki-Narketpally national highway road during the wee hours of Wednesday, resulting in the spillover of oil on the road.
As the news of the oil spilling over from the tanker spread, people from the neighbouring areas came with buckets and tubs and jostled among themselves to collect the cooking oil for domestic use at their homes. As a result, a huge traffic jam for kilometres was witnessed on the national highway.
On learning about the incident, the police reached the spot, moved the tanker to the roadside using a crane, and cleared the traffic jam and the crowd from the spot.
