Parking crisis at Borra Caves amid increased tourist traffic
Visakhapatnam: Borra Caves, a popular tourist destination in Ananthagiri Mandal, is grappling with severe parking problems due to a surge in visitors. ZPTC Deesari Gangaraju inspected the parking facilities on Sunday and noted the worsening situation. Potholes have formed on both sides of the parking spaces, leading to difficulties for tourists trying to park their vehicles.
Gangaraju urged authorities to fill the potholes, particularly near the toll gate, and to level the land leading to the parking lot. Residents and tourists have long demanded these improvements, along with the construction of a Sulabh Complex to meet visitors' needs. Gangaraju also highlighted the lack of a designated budget to address these issues, despite the toll collection from visitors.
Frequent skirmishes between tourists and police officers have further exacerbated the situation, leading to numerous complaints. Gangaraju stressed the urgent need for remedial action to alleviate the parking difficulties and improve the overall tourist experience.
