Pawan Kalyan Takes Charge as Deputy Chief Minister

Signs two files bringing horticulture under NREGA and constructing panchayat buildings in tribal areas

Vijayawada: Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan on Wednesday assumed charge as the Deputy Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh at his office in Vijayawada while pundits of Sri Durga Malleswara Swamy Varla Devasthanam chanted Vedic hymns.

He offered special prayers to Lord Venkateswara Swamy at his office before taking over the portfolios of Panchayat Raj, Rural Development, Forest and Environment, and Science and Technology.

Soon after taking charge, Pawan Kalyan signed two files. His first signature brought under NREGA works related to horticulture crops. The second approved construction of panchayat buildings in tribal areas of the state.

Many leaders including Jana Sena ministers Nadendla Manohar and Kandula Durgesh congratulated Pawan Kalyan on becoming the Deputy CM. JS leaders Naga Babu, Vemulapati Ajay Kumar, Mareddy Srinivas, MLAs, MPs and other leaders also conveyed their best wishes to the Jana Sena chief.

Later, Pawan Kalyan held a meeting with principal secretary (Panchayat Raj and Rural Development) Sashi Bhushan Kumar and commissioner Kanna Babu and reviewed the working of these departments.

Earlier in the day, large numbers of JS supporters and fans gathered at the premises of the Irrigation Guest House to greet Pawan Kalyan.
