Pawan Kalyan urges officials to address Yeleru flood impact

KAKINADA: Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan instructed officials to prioritise relief efforts in villages affected by flooding from the Yeleru Reservoir. He emphasized the need for support to farmers and stressed the importance of medical services for residents. Kalyan directed that relief programs be implemented in 152 villages across 21 mandals in Kakinada district.

He specifically inquired about the status of villages such as Rajupalem, Kolanka, Somavaram, S. Thimmapuram, Veeravaram, Krishnavaram, and Ramakrishnapuram. He also ordered the relocation of residents from Madhavapuram and Navakhandravada to relief camps.

The Deputy Chief Minister instructed the Panchayat Raj and R&B department officials to repair damaged roads and restore transportation.

Additionally, he called on medical and health personnel to provide services in the affected areas and ensure the availability of adequate medicines. He noted that once the floods recede, a comprehensive survey should be conducted to assess the impact on agriculture and submerged fields. Officials reported that flooding has affected 5,485 hectares of paddy and 90.4 hectares of cotton fields, with 2,000 people relocated to relief camps.
