He was addressing collectors of 26 districts and heads of 40 departments during the Collectors' Conference at the secretariat in Velagapudi of Amaravati on Wednesday.
“Everything that the previous government did during the past five years has shaken the foundations of democracy. To protect democracy, we, as political parties, set aside our differences and joined hands. People respected our alliance and the rest is history," Pawan Kalyan told the top officials.
He said people have high expectations from the government. “We can only make good policies. Only collectors can take them to the people,” he pointed out.
The Deputy CM said that Andhra Pradesh, under the stewardship of Nara Chandrababu Naidu from 2014 to 2019, earned the reputation for efficient bureaucracy. This got destroyed during the past five years. He charged the previous government of using revenue staff to even sell movie tickets.
“Why did not IAS officers said no to such wrongdoings? When people get disappointed, their unrest eventually spills onto the streets, as seen in Sri Lanka and Syria,” Pawan Kalyan remarked.
He pointed out that the state is passing through a huge fiscal crisis. He sought cooperation from the collectors. “We need your support; it is your fundamental responsibility,” he stated. He maintained that there should be no let go attitude. “This resulted in the attack on Mumbai," the Deputy CM underlined.
He congratulated the Chief Minister for bringing Google to Visakhapatnam, the financial capital of the state.
