PDSO demands ban on root causes of sexual violence
Visakhapatnam: The Progressive Democratic Students' Organisation (PDSO) protested at the GVMC Gandhi statue, demanding justice for a law college student gang-raped in Madhurawada. Protesters marched to Rama Talkies Road via RTC Complex and Telugu Talli flyover.
State treasurer L. Bhanu condemned the crime, highlighting the failure to address root causes such as alcohol, drugs, and pornography, which fuel sexual violence. District secretary V. Lakshmi cited National Crime Records Bureau data showing 86 daily rape cases nationwide, many unreported.
The PDSO called for a ban on these influences and urged stricter laws to prevent such incidents, emphasising that enforcement alone is insufficient.
