Pigs, dogs mess up life in Pulivendula: MLC

Bhumireddy Ram Gopal Reddy accuses YSRC govt of misappropriating ₹650 crore under the guise of beautification in Pulivendula.

Kurnool: Telugu Desam MLC Bhumireddy Ram Gopal Reddy has accused the YSRC government of massive funds mismanagement vis-a-vis beautification works in Pulivendula.

“Some Rs 650 crore had been spirited away in the guise of beautification works in Pulivendula. Even basic civic services are lacking here. Stray dogs and pigs couldn't be controlled in Pulivendula due to lack of funds for the municipality,” he said.

Speaking at the general meeting of the Municipality, he said an additional Rs 125 crore was being sought for CC roads and underground drainage systems in the town. He expressed frustration over the “misuse of funds.”

Gopal Reddy shared his own experience, saying he paid Rs 6,000 as house tax some time ago, but this money was not yet deposited in the municipal cash chest. So one can imagine what the situation is like for ordinary citizens. Fraudulent house tax receipts were circulating in the town, he said.

The MLC said he would take these matters up with urban development minister P Narayana soon and seek necessary funds for the town’s development.

He also cited the unfulfilled promises on TIDCO houses and said YSR Congress leaders should handover the funds they collected in the past to the people as soon as possible.
